Founded in England in 1929 this international voluntary youth organisation is a charity with around 345 branches and 480 centres in the UK alone. Worldwide the Pony Club has a presence in 27 countries and over 110,000 members – giving it a hugely important role in the lives of young riders around the world.
What do you do in a Pony Club?
The objectives of The Pony Club are:
- to encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding.
- to give instruction in riding and horsemastership and to educate Members to look after and to take proper care of their animal.
What age is Pony Club for?
Membership is open to anyone up to the age of 25. There is no national minimum age to join The Pony Club, although some Branches/Centres may have their own lower age limit depending on what they offer.
What happens at Pony Club camp?
The pony stays at camp stabled in a pen for the duration of camp. Child attends camp each day 8.30am and returns home to sleep. Lunch and snacks are provided for the dailies. The ponies will be fed according to their usual diet.
What do you need for Pony Club?

- Waterproof Riding Jacket.
- Jodhpurs or Breeches – You will need at least 2 pairs of coloured ones.
- Pony Club Long Sleeved Rugby Shirt or Sweatshirt.
- Pony Club Polo Shirt or T-Shirt with sleeves.
- Long Sleeved Shirt or Colours for Cross Country.
- Body Protector – Must be BETA 2009 (level 3) approved.

As a Pony Club member you can work towards our range of Achievement Badges, Mini Achievement Badges, Advanced Achievement Badges and Sport Badges, learning vital skills along the way! You can also improve your riding and horse care skills by working up through The Pony Club Tests - will you achieve the coveted A Test?

Can you join more than one pony club?
Can I join more than one Branch? A Member cannot join more than one Branch at any one time. All Branch Members will be welcomed as occasional visitors at working rallies or other Branch activities of a Branch other than their own Branch, provided that the agreement of both District Commissioners is obtained.
How do I join the pony?
Individuals who wish to participate in mounted and unmounted meetings, clinics, rallies, certifications, exchanges, or other special opportunities do so by becoming a member through a local Pony Club or Pony Club Riding Center. Find a club or center in your area to join.
